PUBLIC AND SOCIAL POLICIES RESPONSES TO WIFE ABUSE IN ARGENTINA AND CUBA.This article was published in the academic Journal of University of Warszawa CESLA Nº 3, Especial Edition: Los Derechos Humanos de las Latinoamericanas: el Cuerpo Importa (Latin American Women`s Human Rights: the Body Matters), by Marta Zabaleta. This essay offers a comparative analysis of first hand data gathered by the author in Buenos Aires and Havana on the State responses to domestic violence in both cities, and its focus is on the resources to stop violence and assist the victims. The article gives an approach to the existing debate on the convenience (or not) of the State intervention to stop domestic violence, both in Anglo-Saxon countries as well as in Latin America. This is the framework in which in the State intervention in the country case study is explored. The study concludes pointing out the positive features of each response, and those areas to be improved.
